I have just finished When Sirens Call and I want to shout to everyone out there, ‘Read This Novel’! Like Odysseus, we strap ourselves to the mast and let the author carry us to places we have not imagined, or that we have but have avoided looking at too closely. This book is full of monsters. Not the physical kind but the ones that always hold me, the intellectual kind. It is a book of ideas, of philosophies and of characters. People who leap out at you, people you’ve met or would have liked to. Fictional and real people — the paradox of good writing. This book has been filling my head space for a week or so now. I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Danny Fahey, author of The Tree Singer, The Woodcarver’s Son
AUTHOR
(FICTION) Placenta is the signature of an enormously talented street artist whose real identity is a closely kept secret. Or at least until an enormously wealthy commercial artist takes it upon himself to call Placenta's work his own. Art Wars is a dark tale dealing with the relationship between art and the market place; between art and ideology; between authentic creation and the mass production of kitsch.

Art Wars: a dark tale dealing with the relationship between art and the market place
THIS IS THE BOOK THAT YOU WANT TO TAKE TO THAT DESERT ISLAND
Excellent. Engaging and thoughtful. If you want a well-told historical tale, epic in scope but exquisitely attentive to detail, with a compelling personal narrative set in Franco’s Spain rising from the backdrop of 16th-century conquest, this is your book. Told in language that is both precise and earthy, the novel sweeps across primal scenes and hallucinatory visions, sea battles and lecture halls, personal betrayals and lost loves. With a narrative momentum that rarely falters, Adkin manages to integrate the high ideals of the epic quest with all the human coarseness and blemishes of naturalism. Overall, a book most anyone can enjoy. Dr Gary Gautier, University of Colorado, www.shakemyheadhollow.com

DISMANTLING THE PARADIGM (NON FICTION) There is something wrong with the world. We all know this, but what is the exact problem? This book is an examination of the enormous complications humanity faces today, carried out in a way that identifies the essence of those problems, making room to find real solutions to them. Dismantling the Paradigm strips our civilisation bare in order to envisage the world with a different kind of organisation, with a different paradigm.
